I did a VLOG! My first ever one and wow it was harder than I ever thought it would be. At the same time though, I must admit the process was so enjoyable and will definitely be doing some more in the future. Hopefully next time I don't come across quite so muck like a bumbling douchebag!
The idea behind the video was simply to announce the launch of a new business that I have set up alongside a couple of friends. This is something that is completely separate from my commercial and fashion photography. There is no intention what so ever to step back from my main passion which is (and always will be) working with a camera in my hand.
At the beginning, I mention how so much time as a photographer is actually spent working at a desk and that sometimes that can be quite a lonely thing. Now before you grab your violins let me point out that I love what I do. I wouldn't change it for the world. I work with some amazing people and I love the being a creative. For such a long time now, I've been hell bent on building a successful business for myself and everyday, I shall continue to do that. However, I'm not just content with being a good photographer. I want to be good at business too and I truly believe that having variety in what I do (if managed well) can be such a positive thing.
This particular project is going to be a slow burner. We each have our main focusses already occupying the majority of our time so we need to be patient. We have a clear goal of where we want to take it, but in order to get there we need to walk before we can run. We will get there though. I have no doubt about that.
I was in two minds about whether or not I should share this via my website. I am often very protective over what people can see and some of the work that I do. However as this is my first ever vlog style video, I thought it would be cool to share it with you.
It will probably be the only time The Picture House Company get a mention via this website, as my aim is to keep my interests separate. However it might not be the only time I decide to post some video content. One of my targets this year is to produce a handful of vlog style videos in an attempt to try something new, broaden my skill set and potentially reach out to a new audience. The tricky part is figuring out what content to base my videos on. If you enjoyed the video, if you'd like to see more or if you have any ideas on what I should base any future videos on then I would love to hear your thoughts.
In the mean time, please go and check out The Picture House Company.
